Bradshaw Brook

Bradshaw Brook

Bradshaw Brook is the defining feature of Seven Acres Local Nature Reserve. It has shaped the landscape of the site and is the corridor along which wildlife commutes on to, and off the site. Bradshaw Brook is just as important amongst the local community, being a very popular area for paddling during Spring and Summer months, especially on the area known locally as pebble beach.

We wanted to discover how Bradshaw Brook had been used in the past by local people and industries. Led by Sara Vernon, local archaeologist we visited the site to have a explore some of the remnant heritage features associated with Bradshaw Brook such as the weirs and leat. Further map investigation work with staff at Bolton Museum helped us understand how Bradshaw Brook had been used in the past by industries based on Seven Acres.
