Our work on Bradshaw Brook

Introducing Bradshaw Brook

Bradshaw Brook runs through the centre of Seven Acres. Part of the river has been a source of energy for the bleaching industry. It was important in turning the water wheel to provide energy for the machines in the bleachworks.

Boulders

There are boulders near the bridge. This is where the weir used to be. The weir would control how fast the water would be. The river used to branch off.

Pebble Beach

This is Pebble Beach. Where a lot of children play, river walking, fishing, swimming and many other fun games! But in the past Pebble Beach was a source of food for the wood landers because it was linked to the river Bradshaw Brook.

Pond dipping near the bridge that crosses Bradshaw Brook

This is where we went pond dipping. We found Mayfly Nymph, fresh water shrimp - these insects need clean water to breed. There are fish in the river which would have been a source of food for the people that lived here.
