Wildlife
The present role of Seven Acres is a Local Nature Reserve. Staff from Lancashire Wildlife Trust took us on site visits to investigate what wildlife is found at the site and how they try to manage the site to improve its value for wildlife.
To investigate the wildlife of Bradshaw Brook we undertook a kick sampling exercise in the river. We found a number of interesting minibeasts including mayfly nymphs and learnt about how these help support a number of predators specific to Bradshaw Brook including Kingfisher. To learn about what mammals lived at Seven Acres we looked for signs of their presence on the grasslands and woodlands, finding clear evidence of Roe Deer.
