Our Work on Wildlife - More Information
Purple heather – The heather is a magnet for insects and small mammals such as field voles.
Frogs and toads – The ditch, or leat, running alongside the boundary of the grassland area originally fed water from Bradshaw Brook to the old bleachworks. It is now a good area for frogs and toads.
Kingfisher and dipper – Where Bradshaw Brook curves round undershore works you can often see two of Seven Acres most special bird species. Kingfisher and Dipper are thought to breed on the brook just outside the site. They are often seen racing up and down through Seven Acres.
Sluice and millpond – Bolton MBC have conducted lots of work to restore some of 7 Acres heritage features, notably the sluice and millpond near Bury Road.
